The University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and Ensemble Druzhba are excited to announce the inaugural UWL ChamberFest, June 15-19, 2020: a week-long intensive chamber music festival for experienced middle and high school violinists, violists, and cellists. As musicians, we spend a lot of time working independently to develop our technique and learn solo repertoire, a necessary and fulfilling endeavor, but one which requires a lot time alone. Chamber music is so rewarding because we can use the skills we develop in our individual practice to work together with others towards the same goal: performing a piece of music that will “speak” to an audience! Learning chamber music not only fine-tunes a musician’s skills in intonation, rhythm, and musicality, but it is also tremendously fun because of its collaborative spirit. The week will include a daily chamber orchestra workshop with Justin Davis, Director of Instrumental Music at UWL, daily rehearsals, coachings, individual instruction with members of Ensemble Druzhba, culminating in a final performance in Annett Recital Hall.
We want to share our love for chamber music with young musicians and mentor them in their musical process.
We will soon be inviting experienced middle or high school violinists, violists, and cellists to apply.
